Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information CrayonBloom collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. CrayonBloom is operated by Yak Shaving LLC, which is responsible for the information described here.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address (we use passwordless magic-link sign-in).
  • Content you create: the ideas/prompts you submit and the coloring books generated from them.
  • Personalization (optional): a child's first name only, if you choose to add one, so we can personalize the cover and story. Never a last name, birthdate, or photo — and never required.
  • Order information: for physical prints, your shipping address and phone number (required by the carrier and print partner). Payment is processed by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers.
  • Usage data: basic analytics about how the Service is used, so we can improve it.
  • Connection, device, and log data: your IP address, browser or device details (including the user agent), request path, and related operational or security logs when you visit or use the Service.

How we use information

  • To operate the Service: generate your books, show previews, and deliver downloads.
  • To fulfill print orders: we share your shipping details and book files with our print partner (Lulu) and our payment processor (Stripe) solely to print, ship, and charge for your order.
  • To send you service email (magic links, order confirmations, shipping updates).
  • To understand and improve the Service through aggregate analytics.
  • To prevent abuse, protect accounts, investigate errors, and keep the Service reliable.

Marketing email

Separately from the service email above, we send occasional marketing email: launch news, and ideas for turning a child’s coloring page into a printed book. You get it only if you ask for it, and there are three places to ask.

  • The launch list. When you enter your email address in the sign-up form on our home or pricing page, that is the opt-in. The form says what it signs you up for before you type, and that is what we send.
  • The free-page checkbox. When you save a free page, the form carries a separate marketing checkbox. It is off by default and never required, and we send you marketing email only if you tick it. Your page is yours either way.
  • The order-page checkbox. After you order a printed book, your order page carries the same kind of separate checkbox. It is off by default, never required, and never part of paying — your order and everything we send about it are the same whether you tick it or not.

Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time; once you do, we stop sending it. Your service email (magic links, order confirmations, shipping updates) is unaffected by this choice.

AI processing

Prompts and generation requests are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to produce your coloring pages and to screen for unsafe content. Please don't include sensitive personal information in prompts.

If you add a child's first name to personalize a book, that first name is included in the generation prompt we send to OpenAI so the story can name the child as its hero. We send only the first name for this — never a last name, birthdate, or photo.

Cookies & analytics

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how the Service is used. It sets no cookies. If you accept analytics, PostHog stores a single random, anonymous id in your browser's local storage so we can tell returning visits apart — never your name, email, or any personal detail. It also honors your browser's Do Not Track signal. Any analytics we record on our servers are tied to an internal account id, never your raw email address. We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell your personal information.

Your choice. On your first visit we ask before loading this analytics, and nothing loads until you accept. If you decline (or your browser sends a Do Not Track signal), we don't load it at all and nothing is stored except your choice. To save that choice we keep a small preference in your browser's local storage (and, if you accepted, the anonymous analytics id described above). You can change your mind at any time using the "Privacy choices" link in the footer of every page, or by clearing site data in your browser.

Where we operate / international users

CrayonBloom is operated from, and intended for users in, the United States. We do not target the Service to people outside the U.S. If you access it from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for complying with your local laws; your information will be processed in the United States.

Sharing

We disclose information only as needed to the service providers that run CrayonBloom. These include Cloudflare for edge security, email delivery, and backup storage, Google Fonts for typeface delivery, Railway for hosting, OpenAI for generation and moderation, Stripe for payment, Lulu for printing and shipping, Sentry for error monitoring, and PostHog for analytics. We do not sell your personal information.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

CrayonBloom is built for parents and other adults, and the account holder must be an adult. The Service is not directed to children, and children do not create accounts or sign in. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Books are generated from text prompts only — you describe the idea in words and our AI draws it. CrayonBloom does not collect photos or images of children. The only optional detail a parent may add is a child's first name, provided voluntarily by the adult account holder, to personalize the book — never required, and never a last name, birthdate, or photo.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us personal information, or you want to review or delete information associated with your account, email us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.

Data retention and your choices

We keep your account and order information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal and accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.
